How We Work

Able Wisdom Services Inc works with many other service providers and state agencies to provide services to those in our community with intellectual disabilities. We receive funding from Home and Community-based Services (HCS), a Medicaid waiver option, Texas Home Living, and We also accept private pay for all eligible services.

HCS PROGRAM

At Able Wisdom Services, Our programs includes Home and Community-based Services Program: Group Home or Host Home and Companion Care.

The HCS program can provide 24-hour residential assistance for people with intellectual disabilities or related conditions who live in:

  • Our group home where no more than four people receiving services live.
  • Our host home and companion care setting.

Able Wisdom Service HCS program provides services across Texas for people to successfully integrate into their local community and have opportunities to participate as citizens to the maximum extent possible, whether they are receiving 24 hour residential services or services in their own home or family’s home.

  • A person receiving HCS residential assistance has access to:
  • Services On The Individual Plan of Care (IPC)
    • Residential Support Services (RSS)
      • Group home
      • Must have 24-hr awake staff
    • Supervised Living (SL)
      • Group home
      • Does not require 24-hr awake staff
    • Host Home Companion Care (HH/CC)
    • Community First Choice-PAS/HAB (CFC-PAS/HAB)
    • Respite (REH)
    • Nursing (NUR, NURS, NUL, NULS)
    • Behavioral Support/Psychology (BS)
    • Speech, Audiology (SP & AU)
    • Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy (OT & PT)
    • Social Work (SW) Rarely used
    • Cognitive Rehab Therapy (CRT)
    • Employment Assistance, Supported Employment, Individualized Skills & Socialization (EA/SE/ISS)
    • Adaptive Aids (AA)
      • Limit of $10,000 per year
      • Must be for specific consumer/can’t be shared
      • Needs 3 bids
      • May request for justification of services at a certain invisible cap by Utilization Review Department.
    • Minor Home Modifications (MHM)
      • $7500 lifetime limit
      • Extra $300 per yr for warranty work –when $7500 is used up
      • Can be shared & Need 3 bids
      • May request for justification of services at a certain invisible cap by Utilization Review Department.
    • Dental (DE)
      • $2,000 per year max
      • Dental Treatment Plan

TxHmL PROGRAM

Texas Home Living (TxHmL) is a Medicaid waiver program provided by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services. Similar to the HCS Program, it’s designed to provide essential services and meet the needs of those individuals and their families. Due to high demand, the stark reality is that the waiting list into the HCS program in Texas is long. Families and IDD individuals awaiting their full HCS enrollment slot can partake in some of the benefits of the state’s assistance program through the TXHML program. Texas Home Living Program (TxHmL) is available to individuals living in family homes or in their own home. Services can range from attendant services to specialized therapies to dental treatments. Families and Individuals enrolled in the Texas Home Living Program (TxHmL) program obtain services through their Texas Local Authority (LIDDA) or Managed Care Organization (MCO). The program is tailored to the individual and created to enhance quality of life.

Our Admissions Criteria

Able Wisdom Services Inc Specializes in serving adults (men and women) age 18 and over with intellectual disabilities. Applicants should have a primary diagnosis of intellectual disabilities, in the mild to severe range, and should be capable of exercising some self-care skills (dressing, bathing, toileting, etc.) In order to live in our group homes, please contact our office at 214-676-9406
